Painted Serving Utensils and Garden Tools
Adina Gwatkin Designs transforms common household tools and kitchen utensils into vibrant, personalized works of art, with the look of millefiori glass.
Adina's work brings a pleasing aesthetic element to the practical, resulting in something personal. Adding personal decoration to practical forms has been practiced since pre-history, arguably one of the earliest forms of art.
Her layered designs make use of rugged enamel similar to that used to create bowling balls.
The handles are first shaped using various woodworking tools to create an ergonomic handle.
Multiple layers of brightly colored paint are applied and accented with gold or silver leaf. The handles are then carved, by hand, to create ringed multi-colored designs. Several coats of clear glossy urethane are applied to complete the process.
Colorful and Fun!
The palette of each piece varies according to the colors used and the ordering of the layers. Some contain all the colors of the rainbow giving them a bright and colorful look, others are more controlled like the classic black and white.
Adina emphasizes quality in every piece she creates, insuring they will be functional for a lifetime.
Her works are fun to look at, hold and use. Because they are aesthetically pleasing, unique and functional, they make great gifts. Sculptural in appearance but durable enough to be fully functional (the kitchen utensils are dishwasher safe!) her pieces are distinctive and unique.
Every piece inspires conversation, while always speaking to your need for function.
